| Real Name: Mary Jane Powers: none History: Mary Jane was born into a troubled home-- an alcoholic father and a mother who gave up her dreams to marry him. Soon, her mother left her father, living with relatives here and there. One such relative was Anna Watson, Mary Jane's aunt, who lived across from Peter Parker's home. On one such visit, she noticed Spider-Man leaving Parker's window, and she suspected his secret identity, although she never revealed this until much later in her relationship with Peter. Mary Jane enjoyed an on-again off-again friendship / relationship with Peter, who was between times involved with other relationships. Mary Jane herself became involved in other realtionships, such as with Harry Osborn (later Green Goblin II) while Peter dated Gwen Stacy, and at one time she even moved to Florida with her Aunt Anna (partly because of the risks Peter would always face as Spider-Man.) Later, Mary Jane was present when Peter was attacked by the Puma, who discovered Spider-Man's secret identity. Although Peter kept the battle away from her, she confronted him after the battle, revealing that she always knew he was Spider-Man. A new level of their relationship opened up, and Peter later proposed to Mary Jane (for a second time, actually.) Accepting, the two were wed by MJ's uncle, a judge. Mary Jane has stood by Peter through thick and thin, and indeed, in richer and poorer, and most recently became pregnant and gave birth to baby May Parker. Unfortuately, the baby was stolen by an unknown villain, and Peter and MJ were told the baby died in miscarriage. MJ has since gone back to school, studying psychology. |
