Powers: Ability to upset other persons' sense of balance, inducing vertigo and possibly unconsciousness.
History: Vertigo is both the simplest and the most complex of the Marauders. The leader of the Savage Land mutates created her from scratch by force-evolving a semi-sentient primate; at Brainchild's command, she opposed the X-Men and their allies (and lost) before being recruited for the Marauders and taken from her native land shortly before its destruction.
She sometimes seems to be the least effective Marauder -- as the team's first line of attack, she winds up getting knocked unconscious during the first five minutes of an embarrassing number of fights -- but she is useful for ensuring an upper hand at the beginning of a battle. An enemy who can't stand up or see straight is a dead enemy. |
