Serious Injuries - Head/Concussions

Place in History - Plum Mariko will be forever remembered as the first wrestler in Japan to die from injuries caused in a match. The joshi style is known for the physicality of it that makes careers short, but it had never claimed a life. Plum was a fantastic wrestler who'd never really broke out of her spot, but was and is regarded one of the top workers from the AJW-JWP days and JWP's peak years. Though very well-rounded, Plum was primarily about slick matwork and big suplexes. She suffered a series of concussions and while she slowed in her `97, she kept going hard and eventually it took her life as a brain anuerism claimed her life the day after a tag match. Though she only showed her skills for a short time, Plum Mariko was only 29 when she died and certainly could have given much more to the wrestling world that she lived and unfortunately died for.
