Place in History - When Akira Maeda retired, RINGS struggled to fill the void he left. They had a number of good fighters and Masayuki Naruse was amongst them. Smaller than some and not as talented as others, Naru was never able to really break through as a top guy, but he was pushed fairly. When put in their with the top workers, Naruse looked to be near their level and he had many chances to shine. His greatest faults were covered pretty well in the style, but they became problems when he jumped to traditional pro-wrestling. Naruse's years with RINGS have stayed with him and he can work the mat better than nearly anyone outside of U-Style.
