Center fielder Willie Mays launched 4 homeruns and had 5 RBI as the Chicago NL
Cubs defeated the St. Louis Cardinals by a score of 10 to 5 at Busch
Stadium.

Mays was unconscious all day. The St. Louis fans hated to see him approaching
the batter's box as he just kept delivering base hits! He smashed a
bases-empty 'big-fly' in the 1st inning, lofted a solo-blast 'downtown' in
the 5th inning, blasted a two-run home run in the 7th inning and smashed a
solo-shot out of the park (his 46th of the season) in the 9th inning.
Chicago NL ended up with 15 hits for the game while St. Louis had 6.

Jack Fisher(11-7) picked up the victory, allowing 4 runs in 5 innings. Steve
Hamilton earned his 5th save. Sandy Koufax(11-8) was the losing pitcher. He
was touched for 4 homeruns in his 3 innings of work.

Chicago NL now has a record of a division leading 68-34. St. Louis has a
record of 57-45 after the loss.
