Detroit fans certainly got their money's worth at Tiger Stadium. Dick
Drago(10-12) pitched a rare no-hitter as the Detroit Tigers toppled the
Cleveland Indians 3 to 0.
Drago was just too much for Cleveland. He gave his hometown fans a game
they'll never forget! He walked 4 Cleveland batters. What an evening for the
fans. They were on the edge of their seats from the 7th inning on. With
every out, the electricity in the air mounted. Detroit had just 5 hits for
the night.
Tommy John(8-17) was tagged with the loss. He surrendered just 5 hits and 1
walk in 8 innings. 'Not in my wildest dreams did I think this would happen!'
Drago said as he stood at home plate to salute the fans. 'Once I got into
the later innings, I decided to challenge every hitter, and that turned out
to be the right decision!'
