History was made in Los Angeles as Milt Pappas(11-13) tossed a no-hitter and
the Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the Detroit Tigers by the score of 1 to
0.
Pappas had an afternoon to remember. Heck, it's one we'll all remember! What
a game at Memorial Coliseum! He walked 3 Detroit batters. The tension
started to build around the 6th inning. By the 9th inning the crowd was
electrified. Los Angeles managed only 6 on the afternoon.
The loss was charged to Bob Shaw(10-14). It was a tough loss for him as he
did not allow an earned run in his 6 and 2/3 innings of work.
'Pappas pitched one heck of a game!' Dave said. 'He didn't get away with any
bad pitches because he just didn't throw any bad pitches. What a
performance!'
