Camilo Pascual(4-3) was on top of his game in Chicago NL as he tossed a beauty
of a no-hitter against the Chicago NL Cubs. The seemingly unstoppable St.
Louis Cardinals won by a score of 4 to 0.
Although disappointed to see the hometown team lose, the fans certainly were
appropriately impressed with the dominating, no-hit performance of Pascual.
He did not even surrender a walk. What a day for the fans. They were on the
edge of their seats from the 7th inning on. With every out, the electricity
in the air mounted. St. Louis managed 8 in their victory.
Tracy Stallard(3-5) was given the loss. He pitched 6 innings and surrendered
6 hits and 2 walks. It took a while to pry Pascual way from his teammates as
they all wanted to show their appreciation and joy. Finally, however, Rene
got to offer his own congratulations with a big bear hug and the comment,
'That was one of the best pitched games I have seen in all my years in
baseball - Pascual was masterful out there this afternoon!'
