| On Friday the 13th, 2002, the day before the Commissioner's Wedding (9/01/1952 WRL Time) Philadelphia A's pitcher Bob Rush pitched a no-hitter against the New York Giants. This is the 3rd No Hitter in WRL League History. Rush also drove in the games only run in the ninth inning with a sacrifice fly. Bob Rush(10-16) was on top of his game in New York NL as he tossed a beauty of
a no-hitter against the New York NL Giants. The Philadelphia A's won by a
score of 1 to 0.
Philadelphia won the game with a run in the 9th inning. Gus Bell doubled.
Jackie Jensen came next and he stroked a single. Jensen stole second with
some aggressive base running. One out later, Rush came up and he hit a deep
fly scoring the run. Philadelphia finished with 8 hits in the victory.
The losing pitcher was Carl Erskine(8-11). When asked how his stuff was out
there, Rush looked a bit incredulous (as did this reporter) and replied 'A
bit better than average, I'd have to say'
