GloRingsTM brand fishing lures uses a state of the art glow in the dark rare earth compound that glows in the dark longer and brighter and muxh longer than the old Zinc Sulfide glow in the dark material. The old material was nearly usless because by the time you cast the old fashoned glow in the dark material into the water it would have almost faded into obscurity. When the two compounds are laid side by side. as in the above picture (Fig 1) the difference is dramatic and immediate. The Zinc Sulfide materials starts fading rapidly as soon as the activating light is removed while the rare earth material continues to glow brightly.
While color is still a matter of debate, see the article, "Do Fish see Color?"
visability is definitly an important factor. In fact one person reported catching bottom fish with no bait for the fish to smell. He had just a few highly visable and colorful  GloRings™ on on his fish hook.
You can light up and create a strike zone where there was none before. Light is absorbed quickly as it tries to pass through water. Soon the light from the surface reaches a depth just a few feet down where only green light is still visable and beyond that is blackness. As you fish your bait at these depths the fish must depend on light to travel from the surface, through the light inhibiting water, down to your bait or lure and then be reflected to where ever the fish are. Woudn't it be better if the light source was right with your bait or lure? The Glo-Rings
TM take the light with them to as deep as you want. The light does not start at the surface of the water. The light starts right from you bait, lure or spinner so the fish can easily see it from much further away. Are fish afraid of things that glow in the dark? Apparently not! Some fish have an appendage that glows in the dark to attract it's next meal. Also in the article "Do Fish See Color," it was observed that red and green laser spots, which the fish had never seen before, were repeatedly approached by fish trying to eat the laser dots. Commercial fishermen and now even sport fishermen lower a "green fishing light'" into the water to attract fish. Some states feel it works too well and have even outlawed the use of green fishing lights. Japanese fishermen have known this secret for years and hang lanterns from their boats to attract fish. So light up your own strike zone and fill your creel.
