Halloween Madness!

First a short bit of history. Our first spook alley was in 1970 in Clearfield Utah. Since then we have had some very interesting and successful spook alleys. We didn't achieve heart attack status but we came close. In our church members are assigned to visit church members each month and see that they are well and present a short religious thought. Now these teachers are urged to make the visits early in the month but like a lot of us most procrastinated. Our families teachers were no different and so October 31st rolls around and here come our home teachers. October 31st being Halloween we had our first victims! Their penalty for procrastinating was to run the gauntlet of our spook alley.

It seemed so innocuous. What could be scary about a home spun spook alley in our garage? so they agreed. Brother Harmon and Brother Hollinger entered our house of horrors and one of them almost didn't come out alive. Unknown to us Bro. Harmon had a heart condition but it was Bro Hollinger who nearly succumbed that Halloween. Imagine our surprise when a healthy young man in his early twenties screamed and staggered backward making a loud rasping sound as he tried to get air. The best way I can describe the sounds he was making is that it sounded akin to an elephant trumpeting. Then he began pounding his chest hard while still making that strange noise! Now I was scared and was getting ready to start CPR if he fell to the floor. Needless to say we did not get our religious message that month.
