Deck 1: Zombies

Intro: With the release of Pharonic Guardian, zombies have been launched into the metagame. While not the greatest deck out there, they're fun, and can pwn tournies in the right hands. There's two main types of zombie decks: Effect beatdown (Which uses pyramid to bring out strong effect monsters to go for the kill) and the less used Face-Down deck (Which uses the mummies to shuffle face down cards and spring surprises. Good with Patrician of Darkness, too.)

Name: Pyramid Turtle

When this card is sent to the Graveyard as a result of battle, you can Special Summon 1 Zombie-Type monster with a DEF 2000 or less from the Deck to the field. Then shuffle the Deck.

This card is, undoubtably, the best searcher for zombie decks you can get. It's ability to bring out the zombie's strongest monsters with a flick of a switch if borderline terrifying! ALL Normal/Effect zombies (Except the un-special summonable Fushioh Richie) can be summoned with this card! Definatly have 3 of these.


Name: Royal Keeper

You can flip this card into face-down Defense Position once per turn during your Main Phase. When this card is flipped face-up, increase the ATK and DEF of this card by 300 points until the end of the turn that this card is flipped face-up.

This is the zombie's main 4 star ATK/DEF monster. It's versatile. You can use it's effect and flip it during your turn for a 1900 4 star, or keep it face down for a 2000 DEF 4 star when they attack. Very useful early-game.


Name: Patrician of Darkness

As long as this monster remains face-up on the field, the controller of this card selects the targets of his/her opponent's attacks.

This shoudl be the zombie's main beatdown tribute monster. The thing is, you'll rarely need to tribute it due to pyramid turtle. Combine with some trap-effect monsters (Like newdoria) to make attacking suicide for your opponent.


Name: Castle of Dark Illusions

Type: Fiend
Attribute: Dark
Attack: 920
Defence: 1930
FLIP: Increases the ATK and DEF of all Zombie-Type monsters by 200 points. As long as this card remains face-up on the field, the ATK and DEF of Zombie-Type monsters continues to increase by 200 points during each of your Standby Phases. This effect continues until your 4th turn after the card is activated.
Use this with some stall to really hype up all your zombies on the field. Kind of useful for beatdown, but can be a dead draw, occasionally.


Name: Book of Life
Type: Normal Spell
Special Summon 1 Zombie-Type monster from your Graveyard to the field and remove from play 1 monster in your opponent's Graveyard.

This is often the glue of a good zombie deck, and one of it's trademarks; swarming the screen. Include multiples of this card, as it will allow you to recycle those tribute monsters. Call of the mummy is a little less useful, but include one of them if you want. Include 2 or 3 of this card. Also, have a look at including 1 'Card of Safe Return' due to the amount of graveyard summoning you'll be doing.
