So I built my 1:20 model of the cradle, using various sizes of Plastruct ABS I-beams and balsa hull supports. Painted it light gray overall. I haven't done the wheels yet, may not, as I'd just as soon have the thing sit flat on the table top.
The hull sits nicely on it. I was able to take my 3D CAD model of the hull, slice it at the hull support stations, and generate the correct profiles.
OK, I made this part up! But it's cute…
Compare to the PT109 bow shot on the previous page. I didn't make the guide boards, they'd be too flimsy for normal handling.
Stern shot. Since I allowed for bigger-than-scale props, the shafts come down further, and needed more wood cut away on the last support.
