Pvt. Richard James Bevan served in Captain John C. Wilcox's company which was organized around May 1864 in Madison County, Florida. Bevan, along with many others, were once thought to have served in John T. Lesley's unit which was known as "Company B.". Lesley's men were stationed near Tampa while Wilcox's company was located 170 miles to the north near the Georgia border. This parole form provides clear evidence that Wilcox's unit was also known as "Company B." |
