Yesteryear, formerly the "Utations" was formed in 1960 by five high school teens in the spirit of the traditional harmony groups of the 50's. The group learned many of the late 50's and early 60's rock & roll songs, appearing at local record hops, dances and parties, but mostly singing for their own enjoyment in the acappella style on street corners in the Bridgeport, CT area.
The group separated in the mid sixties as some members went to college, others the service, etc., but reunited whenever possible over the next dozen or so years, performing once again as Yesteryear in 1979 with all the original members. The addition of musical accompaniment in 1990 allowed Yesteryear to perform many songs not well suited to acappella renditions, thereby adding another dimension to a well rounded repertoire of material.
As there are few remaining vocal groups in existence which perform in the style of the 50's & 60's, Yesteryear takes pride in presenting your favorite "oldies" with their own distinctive sound while preserving this pure form of vocal entertainment, acappella harmony. |
