In Cuba there is good surf, a lot of spots in la Havana, I have been surfing there for six month in 99-2000, and went back many time since then. I'll tell you where to find the best breaks in the city and around. Important Notice: Last surf trip: Winter 2003-2004, not really  big  swell this year, most of the time, to much  on shore wind, ...not luky! While Santa Maria del mar is a easy surf spot even on small days (lot of currents) it can be dangerous. The 25ft of december 2003, one guy drawed ...and we took him out! Be carefull, The sand banch are mooving, the waves are breaking farther, for the beginers,even if it looks easy,  never surf alone there, few life gard..

Riding a little one at LA SETENTA: the most famous spot is at the corner   of  street 1rst and street 72. Spot also called El  Triton. Most of the local riders are super cool people, this is one of the place, you get in the water say hay and every body is just curious to see how you ride, what kind of board you have, ...If you need some locale info, ask for Felix, this is one of the first rider there,  you can trust him  100%.

Who said there is no swell in Cuba...Well, On good days, you can very nice ride very fubn waves,  perfect shape, easy take of (its always relative). Here the malecon is the main indicator of the size you'll get at the spots. I can tell this day, at la Stetenta, a stong 8  foot.

Winter 2002-2003 surf trip: Memorable days:  on the 1rst, 2nd of 2003: 6 foot on the set, perfect left at Santa maria del Mar...and just alone in the water. Surfers from la setenta reported me 8 to 10 foot perfet sets.
