Institute for Language and Speech Processing - Modern Greek Fonts A detailed discription of how to install the Greek fonts using the Multilanguage support of MS Windows 98.

How to Read, Write, Print and Email in Greek Advice on installing fonts for various operating systems.

Configuring Browsers for Greek

Please note: there are no differences between the Ancient and Modern Greek alphabet, all except of the accents and hyphens. In Modern Greek language(dimotiki), only one accent is used and is placed on the stressed syllable (monotoniko = one accent system). In the Ancient Greek language, however, there are five different accentuation symbols (politoniko = multiaccent system) that correspond to differen pronounciations of the vowels. Make sure when you download fonts, you are using the one accent system, or "fonts for Modern Greek" instead of fonts for Ancient Greek.

From the previous site, I am taking an EXCELLENT TEST for correct configuring:

"Test Web Site - www.istoselides.gr/news/index.php

If you have your browser configured correctly, the Web sites above should display Greek characters.

Manually Switch Encoding

If you see Roman character gibberish instead of Greek (such as at www.oocities.org/foisyk_2000/) you will need to manually switch from Western encoding view to the Greek encoding under the View menu of your browser."

FTP directory-Greek fonts Several Modern Greek fonts to download for PC, Mac or WinXP.

If all fails or you don't have the time to go through the above steps, you can use the Symbol font from the Windows font list to write Greek. Outlook Express will keep the font intact and send your emails in Greek.
