name
of graphic In this ever changing world, the family is the source of stability. It is the core of our very existence. A quilt has a core, or theme, around which the rest of the quilt is constructed.

Thus, in this Quilt of Life, all beginnings are focused on the Family. Notice, also, the repetition used throughout to complete the work.

Remember when ...

From the focal point one is able to look out at the surroundings, both pass and present. Therefore each of these choices makes its own special design, lending a particular flavor to the quilt.

It is from this viewpoint that decisions are made for the future. The choices made are then pieced together and connected around the focal point, adding personal touching as it creats the background.

The next application to consider would be the borders around the quilt. These would be the things that would accent the beauty of the main parts of the quilt. They would include the basic shades of dark, medium and light ingredients to enhance the focal point.

There must be some factor that strengthens and helps hold the quilt together, making it stronger, and giving it warmth. Carefully, the filling is chosen that will work best for this particular quilt ... not too thick, not too thin ... soft, but yet firm ... dependable ... yet durable.

A strong and durable fabric is selected for the backing of the quilt. One that can be depended on to add years of use to the quilt as well as compliment the rest.

The top of the quilt is complete. The borders are added. The filling and backing are in place. It is time to do the quilting, which will hold it all together. This must be done with care and usually over a longer period of time. One must be sure that it will enhance the overall design and add strength and durabilty to it; something that will endure forever.

It has been a long and tedious task to complete this quilt, and yet, there is one more thing that must be done before the work is finished. A binding must be constructed around the edges in order to protect all it's parts. To ensure that it is sufficient to withstand years of wear and tear, it usually is doubled and sewn around the edges of the quilt first, before tunrning under and putting the final hand stitches along the back side.

RETIREMENT

I Can Wear Purple!! Moving to a new home

The work is now complete on this quilt. All the pieces have been successfully pieced. Now it is time to sign the back of the quilt so all of eternity will know when and where this quilt was made, whom it was made for, and the person creating it.

I enjoy having the awards given to this website placed throughout the content of the pages, just as a quilt has it's components distributed evenly through the theme it is portraying.
