What can I say? These chicks kick major ass! Next to Naomi Flugel, these two are on my list of favorite female characters in Zoids/Zero. Mmmm…well, to be honest, I couldn’t help but wonder if the Taskers were just there for fan service. You catch my meaning but that was in the beginning, before I saw them in action. After that, I was awed by their mastery of the Lightning Saix, a zoid few people can handle and control.
When I first saw the sisters’ introduction in episode eleven, they were standing side by side in the hanger, calling out to Jack Sisco while he was tuning up the Lightning Saix for the trials. That’s when I was thinking of the two sisters as being nothing but eye candy for the male audience. Yeah...seeing their skintight outfits and how Chris’ hoochie-mama attire had most of her stomach and her chest hanging out was not making matters any better. And most noticeable was the effect they had on one of my male friends, with him drooling like a sex crazed pervert. *sighs and rolls eyes at her friend* But that was before I got to know how they truly were as characters. Like the old saying goes: "Don’t judge a book by its cover." In short, I had misjudged them and I soon realized there’s much more to Chris and Kelly then what meets the eye.
Later in that same episode, the green-eyed monster reared it ugly head when Leena made a catty remark about the Taskers having the personality of an old boot. That was after Brad commented on the sisters as being the beauties who joined up with Jack Sisco. Now, I agree with Brad on that one. They are beautiful. I’m not gonna playa hate on what he said. And later, I learned they have much more going for them than just their looks. The sisters showed their mad skills at the zoid trials and later, on the battlefield when they went up against the Blitz Team. Seeing how they made such high scores at the trials, I soon realized that if they were truly the bimbos I had first thought them to be, there was no way in hell Jack Sisco would have hooked up with them in the first place. Their skills with the Lightning Saix is what won him over, not their appearance. With the sisters’ beauty and brains, and Jack Sisco’s cool intellect and brawn, they made an explosive combination that made everyone else sit up and take notice of them. And plus, I noticed the business-like partnership they had formed, which made them the coolest team in the league. In other words, the Lightning Team rules! Can’t you tell they are my favorite zoid team, btw? *grins*
Despite the fact that Chris and Kelly are twins, I can tell they each have their own unique personality. All twins, whether they are fraternal or identical, have distinctive traits that set them apart from each other. It really helps if you know which sister is Chris or Kelly, not being able to tell the difference between these two young ladies would be a bad thing. First, there are the physical differences, mainly, in hairstyles and outfits. In the picture below, Chris is the one on the left; Kelly is the one on the right. When it comes to personality, Kelly strikes me as being more laid back and even-tempered while Chris comes across as being more out spoken and aggressive. Chris is a bit of a sass, just like me! :) Evidence of this can be seen when they do battle in episodes 11 and 24. Chris is the one that says “Bye-bye, wolfie!” when she blew Brad Hunter away, Dirty Harry style. Chris also serves as the Lightning Team’s strategist as you can see in this picture. She’s the one with the notebook computer on her lap.
In closing, these girls prove you can have the awe inspiring intelligence, the kick ass attitude and still look pretty damn good in the process. I greatly admire strong female characters with personality such as Chris and Kelly Tasker. Heck, they’re Jack Sisco’s teammates so that should tell you something. As my fellow zoid fans would say, “These girls are hot!” And I can't help but to agree wholeheartedly.
