Why Jack Sisco Is My Favorite Character From Zoids/Zero |
At first, I thought there was something wrong with me for liking the Jack Sisco character. "Why him, of all people?" I asked myself. My brother didn't help matters any better when I first told him. "You like Jack Sisco?! Eww!" A direct quote, btw. Of course, I wanted to smack him afterwards but that is his own personal opinion, even if it does suck. He is entitled to think that and he happens to be a big Zoids fan. Just like me. He has all the episodes of both Classic Zoids (aka Chaotic Century/Guardian Force) and Zoids/Zero on tape so that proves he is a bigger fan than I am. *sighs* Well, I'm happy with the four episodes I taped that Jack appeared on. I taped them twice so that proves how much I admire the character. Or how truly obsessed I am. :p
I don't know if you would call Jack a main character or not. I mean, he only appeared in only four out of the 26 episodes in Zoids/Zero, but yet, he managed to make a lasting impression on not only me but a few other people. Yes, he does have fans which is a wondrous thing. It lets me know I'm not crazy for liking him in the first place. *glares at her brother* It all started for me when I saw episode five, this is where Jack Sisco first appeared in Zoids/Zero. To be honest, I wasn't a Zoids fan at the time but the first thing I noticed about him was his very distinctive deep voice. The same actor who did the English voice for another, rather popular anime character, also lend his voice for the Jack Sisco character. I was practically jumping out of my chair, saying "OMG! That dude sounds like Zechs!" After that, I was hooked on Zoids/Zero, and the rest is history.
Right from the very beginning, Jack Sisco made a statement about himself. He came across as being cool, laid back, calculating, driven, yet cocky and arrogant. Sounds like a real charming guy, doesn't he? Well, there is more. In episode five, we see him refusing offers to join other Zoids teams unless they choose the right card from his deck. Harry Champ finally won him over but it was, unfortunely, a short term partnership. Jack is a mercenary, a Zoid warrior for hire and the only thing he is interested in is money and profit. That is the only reason why he joined the Champ Team in the first place because of Harry's vast wealth. Plus, Harry is a chump to begin with. :p Jack also likes to gamble, a lot. Well, money and mercenaries do go hand in hand, so its to be expected. Jack may have his faults but that what makes him so interesting...and real.
When it comes to the Lightning Saix, any person that can operate a mecha that can break the sound barrier has my vote. It takes a great amount of skill to accomplish this feat, meaning, you can't be an amateur when it comes to handling this powerful piece of machinery. Unless, you like the idea of crashing head-on, spattering your entrails all over the place. *shudders* When Jack became a member of the Lightning Team, he told the Tasker sisters his reasons for joining up with them. They really didn't care, one way or another, but he told them anyway...and he made his point quite clear. They fully understood the capabilities of the Lightning Saix, they understood the Saix's limits and could control them perfectly. Which makes perfect sense, women are known to have faster reflexes than men and it worked out to Jack Sisco's advantage, he got his revenge against Bit by defeating the Blitz Team. Plus, having two extremely attractive women as teammates would indeed be quite a challenge for any other guy but not for Jack Sisco. As my bro so eloquently puts it "Its strickly a business thing for him." and he's right. The other guys in the series like Bit and Brad would consider Jack to be a lucky bastard for teaming up with Chris and Kelly Tasker, wishing they were in his shoes. And to be perfectly honest and realistic, most guys in Jack's situation would be trying to take advantage of those girls. You know what I mean. :p
In closing, Jack does show a belligerent attitude but yet, an incredible intellect that makes him appear older than he actually is. Its hard to believe sometimes he is only seventeen years old, I totally flipped when I first discovered that. Yeah, he may be that young but he is still the coolest character in Zoids/Zero, in my most humble opinion. :)
