AIRBORNE, ALL THE WAY!!!
In Memorium

First Sergeant Forte of 63rd Chemical Company, 101st Airborne Division was a Soldier's Soldier. He personified Airborne and the NCO Corps of the US Army. I was fortunate to have him as my mentor. When I put on my stripes, I followed proudly in his footsteps as a Sergeant of the United States Army. He has gone to Valhalla where all proud warriors meet in the Great Hall. I shall remember and miss him until the day I die. I thank him for the lessons of leadership and soldiering he'd taught me. Top Forte, I'll see you again when it's my time to go to the Big PX in the Sky.

And to you, Chief Warrant Officer Cook, who had laid down his life for his country. I will see you up there, or wherever Airbornes go to when we die.

The Airborne Soldier:
Known by many names: Death From Above, Devils In Baggy Pants, The Red Devils, Umbrellas From The Sky. The Airborne Soldier differentiates himself from other soldiers by his "Esprit de Corps." He goes faster and farther. He fights harder--with more zest and zeal. He is a Light Infantryman with an attitude. He does not believe in snivel gears. He lives by the adage of "Travel Light , Freeze At Night."

Whether he's a Paratrooper, a Gliderman, an Air Assault Soldier, he is Airborne All The Way!!!

While other soldiers settled for The Standards, he surpasses The Standards. Why is he this way? Because he is Airborne! He possesses the intangible something that others do not understand and do not care to have. No mere words can convey the motivation, dedication and the devotion of the Airborne Soldier to his craft. "Hoo-Ah!" is the only answer he can give for being what he is. You must be one to understand.
