A Brief History Of Troop 159
The First Year
Started as Troop 66 (Then 65, and now 159) on February 17, 1931 as part of the North Essex Council. Our first Scout Master was Howard A. McClary. The first meeting was held on March 23, 1931, at American Legion Hall on Main Street in Salem, New Hampshire. The first meetings were held on Wednesdays from 6:30 - 8:30 pm. At this time there was a total of seven boys in the troop, all between the ages of thirteen and nineteen. The year dues at this time was a grand fifty cents. (The population of Salem in 1931 was 2,700).

Sometme later, the troop was renumbered to Troop 159.
