This is the marker for the Russell Tree. This tree was dedicated to Allen I. Russell, who was the Balch Park ranger from 1961 until his retirement in 1990. Much of what Balch Park is today is due to the work of Allen Russell.In the left background a small bit of the giant redwood can be seen.
