Beavers win 6th straight
Six straight wins for the Glen Rose Beavers. Jessieville ran into the Glen Rose powerhouse on Friday afternoon at the Arkansas Health Center. Glen Rose won the defensive battle 3-0. It was the fifth shut-out of the year for the Beavers.

Anthony Ballance was the winning pitcher for the Beavers playing all seven innings. Landon Sigrist got the offensive started, when he hit what was nearly a home run in the fourth inning. It bounced off of the fence and was ruled a ground rule double.

The win places the Beavers in a firm hold of third place for the Beavers, which means that one win in the Conference Tournament will get the into Regional action. The Beavers stand at 10-3 overall this season, and 5-2 in conference play.

Paron falls, as the Beavers win 5th straight
In yet another game, the Beavers have topped 10 runs, and shut a team out. This time they defeated Paron 13-0 in five innings.

Spencer Burroughs was the winning pitcher for the Beavers going four innings. He had 9 strikeouts, 7 walks, and pitched a no-hitter. Josh Lambertus pitched one inning and had 2 strike outs.

Anthony Ballance was 1-2, triple, RBI; Jon Vann 2-2, 2 singles; Hunter Young 1-4, double, 2 RBI; Cody Caudle 1-3, a doulbe, RBI; Colby Elrod 2-3, 2 singles and 1 RBI; Jonathan Hill was 1-2 with a single and an RBI.

Lady Beavers keep rolling
The Lady Beavers topped Paron on Tuesday 12-2. The game lasted only 5 innings, with the 10 run rule in effect.

Brittany Cates was the winning pitcher, she pitched all five innings, had 4 strike outs, 3 hits, and 3 walks. Holly Green was 2-2 with 2 doubles.

Beavers stay strong, improve record to 8-3.
At the Arkansas Health Center on Monday, the Glen Rose Beavers continued their winning ways as they defeated Cutter Morning Star 13-7.

Anthony Ballance was the winning pitcher for the Beavers. Pitching all 7 innings. He had 12 strikeouts, 1 walk, and 5 hits.

Andrew Neel was 1-4, single; Ballance 3-4, HR, 2 singles, 1 RBI; Hunter Young 3-5, 2 doubles, 1 single, 1 RBI; Spencer Burroughs, 2-3, double, single, 3 RBI; Landon Sigrist 1-4, single; Royce Floyd 2-4, 2 singles, 2 RBI; Clayton Hayre 1-3, single.

The Beavers are now 8-3 overall, and 3-2 in conference play. Third place in conference with Bauxite and Poyen in front of the Beavers.

Cutter runs into the Lady Beaver buzz saw
The Cutter Morning Star Lady Eagles softball team ran into a buzz saw on Monday afternoon at Morrison Park. The Lady Beavers came to play and demolished the opponents 19-3.

The winning pitcher was Brittany Cates, she pitched 3 innings, had 3 strikeouts, 1 walk, and 5 hits.

Holly Green was 2-2 with 5 RBI, Lindsey Green was 1-1 with a double and 3 RBI.

The win puts the Lady Beavers at 8-2 overall, and 5-2 in conference play. Next up is Paron on Tuesday.

Big week for the Beavers
Thirty eight runs in one week for the Beavers. On Friday the Mountain Pine pulled into the Arkansas Health Center to take on Glen Rose. The Beavers made quick work of the Red Devils winning the game 10-0 in five innings. It was the third game of the week in which the 10 run rule was in use. Anthony Ballance was the winning pitcher for Glen Rose pitching all 5 innings.

This win brings the Beavers to 2-2 in conference play, and 7-3 overall this season. Glen Rose has scored 88 runs this season, so far, while they have only allowed 30 runs to be scored on them. That makes for an average score of about 9-3.

Next up for Glen Rose is Cutter Morning Star on Monday at the Arkansas Health Center. More

15-0 shut-out for Lady Beavers
The Lady Beavers shut-out the Lady Red Devils from Mountain Pine on Friday afternoon at Morrison Park. Brittany Cates was the winning pitcher for Glen Rose going 4 innings, notching 2 strikeouts, no walks, and only 2 hits.


28 runs in two days for the Beavers
Tuesday afternoon was another big day offensivley for the Diamond Beavers. This time Mayflower fell victim to the Beavers powerful offense. Glen Rose won the game 14-1. The Beavers have scored 28 runs in the last two days, while only allowing 1. The Beavers record climbs to 6-3, with the victory.

Jon Vann was the winning pitcher for the Beavers. Vann pitched the whole 5 innings. He had 2 strike outs, 2 walks, and threw a no-hitter.

Beavers get big win over LR Christian
The Beavers found some offense on Monday afternoon defeating the LR Christian Warriors 14-0 at the Arkansas Health Center. The Beavers win puts them at a record of 5-3, and they are 0-2 in conference play.

Anthony Ballance got the win for the Beavers. He pitched 3 innings allowing 0 walks and 0 hits, and getting 4 strike outs. Jon Vann pitched the other 2 innings with 2 K's of his own. Vann allowed 1 walk and no hits.

The Beavers did well offensivley as well. Ballance was 2-3 with a homerun on the second pitch of the game, a triple, and 2 RBI. Hunter Young was 1-2 with a single, Spencer Burroughs, 1-2, a single, 3 RBI, Vann 1-4, single, RBI, Andrew Neel went 1-4, a single, Landon Sigrist was 1-2, for a single and 2 RBI, Cody Caudle went 1-1 with a single, and Royce Floyd was 1-2 with a single.


Fountain Lake gets the win

The Fountain Lake Cobras handed the Beavers their third loss of the season on Friday defeating them 5-1. The Beavers fall to 4-3 overall, and remain at 0-2 in conference.

Indians edge out a win over Glen Rose
Poyen won the ball game 7-6 Monday afternoon at the Arkansas Health Center, improving their record to 3-0 in conference play and 5-2 overall. While Glen Rose drops to 0-2 in conference and 4-2 overall.

John Lamkins was the winning pitcher for the Indians. Justin Moore was 1-4 with 3 RBI's, Brian McCrackin had 2 RBI's.

Anthony Ballance and Jon Vann each had a pair of RBI's for the Beavers.


Beavers defeat panthers 13-2
The Beavers improved their record to 4-1 and 1-1 Friday night in Magnet Cove as they blew past the Magnet Cove Panthers 13-2.

Anthony Ballance was the winning pitcher for Glen Rose. He gave up 3 hits, had 8 K's, and only 2 walks.

Clayton Hayre went 2-3 with a grand slam homerun in the 3rd inning and 7 RBI's for the night. Spencer Burroughs was 1-2 with a single, Ballance 1-4 with a single, Shawn Hargrove 1-4 with a single, Hunter Young 1-3 with a single, Jon Vann 1-2 with a single, and Josh Lambertus 1-2 with a single.


Lady Beavers lose to former coach
The Lady Beavers lost for the first time this season to the 5-0 Lady Panthers from Magnet Cove. Shane Harsell coaches the Lady Panthers, one year after a 2 year stay at Glen Rose where he coached the majority of this Lady Beaver team. Magnet Cove won the game 13-3.

Beavers defeat Dolphins for a second time
On Thursday the Beaver baseball team defeated the Arkansas School for Math and Science Dolphins to the tune of 17-14. Both of the meetings between the teams have went the Beavers way this season. Both games featured a lot of offense, as well. The Beavers record stands at 3-1 now with a 0-1 record in conference play.

Offensive shoot-out leads to a Glen Rose win
In a game filled with offense on Friday afternoon, the Glen Rose baseball Beavers came through in the end with a 13-10 victory over the Arkansas School for Math and Science.

After 2 innings the Beavers looked like they were going to run away with a win, leading 7-1. But the Dolphins weren't done. In the third inning they exploded and tied the game up at 7-7. The Beavers made a pitching change and got out of the inning alive.

The Beavers finally got the lead back in the fifth inning. In the top of the sixth, because of darkness and the threat of rain the decision was made that it would be the last inning. The Beavers made quick work of the Dolphins in the top of the inning, and held on to the 13-10 lead for the win. The Beavers are 2-1 on the year, 0-1 in conference play. Their next battle is Monday at the Arkansas Health Center to take on the Jessieville Lions.


Lady Beavers get another win
The Lady Beavers played their home opener on Tuesday afternoon, taking on county rival Bismarck. The Lady Beavers improved their record to 2-0 with a win on Tuesday. They take on Jessieville at Morisson Park on Monday.

Softball team 1-0
Monday in frigid weather at Bauxite the 2002 edition of the Lady Beavers softball team debuted with a season opening victor on the road.

The baseball team also traveled to Bauxite on Monday, but lost a defensive battle 1-0. The Beavers record falls to 1-1, and 0-1 in conference play.

Diamond Beavers 1-0
The 2002 Glen Rose Beaver baseball team opened up their season Thursday afternoon with a 7-0 victory over Lutheran High School. Anthony Ballance was the winning pitcher for the Beavers going the entire seven innings. Next up for the Beavers is the Arkansas School for Math and Sciences on Friday.

Baseball season comes swinging in

On Thursday the 2002 Baseball season will get underway when the Beavers will face Lutheran at the Arkansas Health Center.  The Beavers also have a game on Friday with the Arkansas School for Math and Sciences comes for a visit.  The first pitch is at 4:00 for both games.

Two new coaches take over
Two new coaches will take over the helm for the two major spring sports at Glen Rose.  Former softball coach Shane Hartsell left Glen Rose this summer leaving the softball coaching job open.  New head girls basketball coach Brad Matthews will be leading the Lady Beavers softball team this spring.

Coach Kenny Horn who was on the staff last year as a student intern and the pitching coach for the Beavers, was hired this summer to be an assistant football coach, and the head coach of the baseball team.  


Baseball and Softball ends
The baseball and softball seasons are over at Glen Rose for this year. Both teams lost on Friday in the 5AA South District Tournament.

The baseball team was playing in their opening round game against Mountain Pine and lost 4-2. The softball team was playing in their second game of the tournament losing to Poyen 12-2. In their opening round game the defeated Bauxite 14-2.

Beavers and Lady Beavers end regular season with losses
Regular season games for the softball and baseball teams ended on Monday. The results were not the best, but the District Tournament should be good.

Harmony Grove was the opponent for both teams. The baseball team lost 9-6, while the softball team lost 15-0.

The softball district tournament starts Wednesday, April 18. The baseball team will play their opening round game on Friday, April 20.

2 more big wins for the Diamond Beavers
The Beavers beat Cutter Morning Star 16-0 in 5 innings on Monday at the Benton Services Center.

Shawn Hargrove, Cole Ledbetter, and Jake Doddridge scored three runs in the first inning thanks to RBI's from Spencer Burroughs, Chris Talley, and Hunter Young.

Six more runs came in the second inning as Andrew Neel, Josh Lambertus, and Ledbetter all scored on a big grand slam from Doddridge. Talley doubled and score Burroughs, and Neel singled Young in.

In the first two inning the Beavers had 6 stolen bases. The blow out continued with 5 more runs in the third inning. Hargrove scored when Ledbetter double, and then Doddridge hit a two-run homer for his second home run of the game. Burroughs and Tally scored the other two runs on a basehit from Neel.

Ledbetter scored in the fourth, and Hargrove scored one more time in the fifth.

The win puts Glen Rose as 6-6 overall and 3-3 in conference play.

The Lady Beavers scored a win against Cutter as well. They won their game 11-4.

Tara Hawkins and Brittany Cates scored in the second. Cutter took a 3-2 lead, but Glen Rose came back in the fifth with 4 more runs. Jackie Jones, Jessica McDougal, Lauren Lambert, and Hawkins scored. McDougal, Lambert, and Hawkins scored in the sixth. Jennifer Norwook and Lambert rounded out the scoring in the final inning.

The Lady Beavers are now 6-10 overall and 4-3 in conference action.

Beavers win
The Glen Rose baseball team took a 5-3 win Friday at the Benton Services Center when Mt. Pine came for a visit.

Shawn Hargrove was 3 for 4, he had two doubles and a single. Spencer Burroughs was the winning pitcher, he had 5 K's.

The win improves the Beavers record to 5-6 overall, and 2-3 in conference play.

The Lady Beavers came through with a big win on Friday against Mt. Pine. The win came to the tune of 18-0.

After one inning the Lady Beavers were up 10-0. The game was over in 2 innings.

Tara Reeves, Jackie Jones, Jessica McDougal, Jennifer Norwood, Tara Hawkins, Nichole Jones, Candice Estes, and Brittany Cates all scored in the first. Jones and McDougal scored two runs each.

The eight runs in the second inning came from Reeves, Jones, McDougal, Lauren Lambert, Hawkins, Jones, Cates and Estes. McDougal hit a two-run homer in the inning.

McDougal was the leading batter for the Lady Beavers she was 3 for 3, she had a single, triple, and a home run. Cates was the winning pitcher giving up 1 hit, and had 3 strikeouts.

The Lady Beavers improve to 5-10 with the win.

Strange game leads to a win
The Glen Rose Lady Beavers got a 7-4 win in a strange game that was over after 2 innings.

The Pine Bluff St. Joseph's pitcher was called for 'crow hopping'. Crow hopping is when the pitcher hops off the mound during her windup. The umpires discussed this problem with the St. Joe's coach, and St. Joe's forfeited the rest of the game. Glen Rose coach Shane Hartsell told the umps about it, and after they had called the pitcher on it a few times finally told the coach.

Tara Reeves, Jackie Jones, and Jessica McDougal led the way hitting for the Lady Beavers.

Ouachita baseballers top G Rose
The Ouachita Warriors beat Glen Rose 10-4 on Monday afternoon at Ouachita High School Field. It was a non-conference loss for the Beavers.

Dustin Beals was the winning pitcher for Ouachita, he pitched four innings. Chris Ross pitched the final two.

Brian Bridges made the score 8-4 with a three-run homer in the fourth.

Andrew Neel got on base for each of his 4 at bats, and Shawn Hargrove had some key hits.

J'ville falls to the Beavers
On Friday afternoon at Jessieville the Glen Rose Beavers got a big 11-5 win over the defending 5AA South Champs.

Cole Ledbetter started a six-run fifth inning when he got a hit. Jake Doddridge had a double that brought 2 in to score. Spencer Burroughs picked up an RBI when Jake Doddridge scored of Burroughs' single. Nick Fuller got on base on an error, and scored Burroguhs. The score was 7-4 after 5.

In the seventh inning Glen Rose scored 3 more runs. Shawn Hargrove, Hunter Young, and Clayton Hayre all crossed home plate.

The softball team got a win as well, 17-14. The Lady Beavers had a 9-6 lead before Jessieville scored 4 runs to make it 10-9.

In the top of the seventh Jennifer Norwood hit a triple that gave Glen Rose the lead. The inning would see eight runs from the Lady Beavers. In that inning Jackie Jones, Tara Reeves, Norwood, Jessica McDougal, Nichole Jones, Laura Berryhill, and Brenna Reeves all scored runs.

Glen Rose has bad trip to Poyen
The Indian baseball team beat the Beavers 7-1.

The Beavers, 2-5, scored there only run when Shawn Hargrove hit a triple in the seventh inning and scored. Andrew Neel also got a hit.

Jake Doddridge pitched for the Beavers and was nearly perfect through the first 3 innings.

The Glen Rose softball team also fell to Poyen. The conference loss for the Lady Beavers came by a score of 7-4. Brenna Reeves and Jessica McDougal were the leading batters for Glen Rose, and Brittany Cates was the pitcher.
