Tough week for Beavers
Staff
Beaver Dam

GLEN ROSE - The next to last week of the regular season wasn't a very good one for the Beavers.  Both the senior girls and senior boys fell on hard times this week, and go into the final game of the regular season hoping to gain some more momentum going into the conference tournament.

The senior boys had prolly the toughest week of the year on their schedule this week, playing the top two teams in the conference.  On Tuesday the opponent was Harmony Grove at Beaver Gymnasium, for the seniors last home game ever.

The Beavers fought valiantly leading most of the game.  Mental mistakes led to Harmony Grove getting back in to the game and forcing it to overtime.  After one overtime the game remained tied, and went to double overtime.  In double ovetime Harmony Grove finally outlasted the Beavers and took a 43-40 win to remain the second best team in the conference losing only to conference power Poyen.

Speaking of Poyen, that's who the Beavers would face on Friday night.  Poyen is the only undefeated team in the state, and after their 104-53 demolishing of Glen Rose on Friday night, they're record stands at 30-0.  The Beavers made the game worth watching in the first half, after only trailing 10 most of the half, and hanging with one of the best teams in the state.  Poyen put it away early in the second half, and then it was just garbage time.

The senior girls this week, couldn't find a win either.  Still riddled with injuries but showing improvement they lost two tough ones this week.  Harmony Grove got the better of them 44-33, and Poyen handed them a 73-36 loss.

Tuesday Glen Rose will travel to Cutter Morning Star to end the season.
