Mullins headlines Banquet Staff Beaver Dam GLEN ROSE - Arkansas Tech head football coach Steve Mullins was the speaker at the 2001 Glen Rose High School Sports Banquet. The Mr. Beaver award went to Brett Cruse, and Mrs. Beaver was Jennifer Gardner. All-Conference performers this season were Jake Doddridge in baseball, basketball, and track; Neil Smart in track; Drew Furr in basketball; Brett Cruse in basketball and football; Charlie Brown in football; Jessica McDougal in softball; and Lauren Lambert in softball. Jake Doddridge won All-State in baseball, and Brett Cruse was All-State honorable mention in football. Mandy Hamrick was nominated an All-Star on the Drill Team this year. She was Glen Rose's first ever All-Star. CW Polston won the Tom Corley Award. The Tom Corley Award is given to the Glen Rose football player who exemplifies what it means to be a Glen Rose Beaver. Other award recipiants were as follows: CHEERLEADING: Captains Jennifer Gardner and Amberlee Ederington brought home the Captain Award. Natasha Archer got the Merit Award. DRILL TEAM: Captain Kacie Cummings and Co-Captain Kassie Shelnutt won the Captain and Co-Captain Awards. Kacie also won an award for being the best drill teamer in and out of uniform. Mandy Hamrick recieved an award that was voted on by the drill team. GOLF: Matt Davies was voted Outstanding Golfer for the 3rd straight year. GIRLS TRACK: Mae Meredith was the Outstanding Distance Runner, Carrie Rogers was the Outstanding Sprinter, and Brynn Murphree was the Outstanding Field Event Athlete. BOYS TRACK: Neil Smart was the Outstanding Distance Runner, Jeff Beck was the Outsdanding Sprinter, and Jake Doddridge was the Outstanding Field Events Athlete. SOFTBALL: Tara Reeves and Jackie Jones tied for Golden Glove. Jessica McDougal was the Best Hitter. Jennifer Norwood was Most Improved. BASEBALL: Most Improved was Clayton Hayre. Mr. Hustle was Andrew Neel. Best Hitter was Cole Ledbetter. Gold Glove was Chris Talley. GIRLS BASKETBALL: Best Offensive player was Jennifer Gardner, Best Defensive was Brynn Murphree, Jackie Jones was the Assist Leader. BOYS BASKETBALL: Best Offensive player was Jake Doddridge, Best Defensive player was Brett Cruse, Assist man was Neil Smart. FOOTBALL: Offensive player was Brett Cruse, Defensive player was Walter Parish, Most Improved was Andrew Neel, Mr. Hustle was Patrick Lawhon. WEIGHTLIFTING/OFF-SEASON: The off-season award this year went to Clayton Hayre. |
