A trek of over a kilometre, with all of the band's instruments and percussion, ankle deep in mud was not the ideal start to the contest. And although an early draw meant that we were rushed onto the stage, we gave a very good performance of a challenging entertainment programme. As in previous years, we chose to play what we considered our best programme in the section that we thought we'd have the best chance in and finished an unlucky 4th out of eight bands (but the highest placed band from South Wales). I've complained about adjudications a few times over the years - the good thing about the Eisteddfod is that the whole thing is broadcast so you can review it later. Watch the tape and see what you think!! Unfortunately we missed a good photo opportunity when we ended up holding our only rehearsal with the full competing band in a tiny kitchen at Bangor university. On the plus side, there is also no photographic evidence of Wyn throwing up all the way home either! Photos (top to bottom) At the Greek restaurant in Bangor, Greg reflects on his last night with the Band before moving to Ireland and Catryn ponders over whether or not she should have worn something to go out after all... Back at the university bar, Vernon and Jane enjoy a well deserved drink. Their first ever rehearsal with the Band ended just 12 hours before we went on stage! Look at the t-shirt - this one takes his cornet playing very seriously! Gareth and family also settle down for an evening of booze and it looks like Gareth has a pint of red wine (no wonder he's smiling). The photographer would like to point out that the bar really was that dark and it's not her fault that you can't see much in the picture...
