| We celebrated our promotion as champions in inimitable style at the after contest party. There was a quiz to determine the intelligence of the different sections of the band. This was suggested by Catryn and she was naturally delighted when the horns won first place. Second came the combined team of cornets and baritones and the basses beat the trombones into last place. Some outstanding entertainment was then provided by several members of the band. Many thanks to Ken, Catryn, Carwyn Lawrence, Wyn, Aled, Rhodri, Emyr and Emma who made the night unforgettable. Ken gave us a rendition of 'Wind Beneath My Wings' and the others put on some hysterical sketches which had most of the assembled crowd howling with laughter. Thanks also to Caroline, who prepared an excellent buffet. The photos currently on this page are taken off a video of the night's activities. |

| "Ken does it his way" Ken forgot to bring his karaoke machine but made up for this by giving us a spirited performance of 'Wind Beneath my Wings'. He sees himself more as Frank Sinatra than Bette Midler though and has promised to sing 'My Way' with band accompaniment in our next concert... Ken prefixed his solo with a few words of praise for the Band's members, who 'make the Band such an enjoyable organisation to be a part of.' "If I were not upon this stage" I'm not so sure that Wyn's ideal job would be an undertaker... Aled sensibly ducks very low when calling time after narrowly avoiding a punch in the mouth from Rhodri earlier on. |
