New romantic style in the 80ıs gave me an inspiration to start playing with
my looks. Even in small town in Finland I could get international pop
magazines to study the make-up and styles from London. My parentıs didn't
like my white face and orange hair, but that look helped me to find
like-minded friends from early on. I started making my own clothes and got
into a high school that had extra art subjects.
After high school I took a Visual Communications course in Helsinki and then
I did a big jump and moved to New York in 1989. There I designed hats,

studied photography and worked for clubs such as Disco 2000 in the Limelight. I photographed club personalities, put together slide shows, designed invitations and decorations. I did also promoting work and was one of the "club kids" people who dressed up outrageously and were the stars of New York nightlife.
When I returned to Finland I worked with performance/fashion/philosophy group Plastic Pony. In addition to what I had done in New York I started using video too. I put together 16 exhibitions in Finland, London and New York and in 1999 I received a grant from Finnish Cultural Foundation. I did Media Studies course in University of Lapland and got MA degree in 1999.
I specialised in New Media Art and Design. During the years in Lapland I organised many theme parties and was also a  techno / house DJ.
After University studies I moved to London, gained work experience as a web designer and in 2002 started my own new media design company Markus Interactive. Recently I have been active in photographing the London club scene and have plans to produce exhibitions from this material.
I had few years of total break from dressing up but recently I have been doing it again. I think the current scene in London is very"pro dressing up". And drag is addictive; it occupies my mind with new ideas for new "looks".   And did I mention itıs fun!
