P R O F I L E
Matthew Glamorre - Club promoter & Musician.
A legend in his own mind from the eager age of 16.
Fascinated by clublands freaks at Leigh Bowery’s Taboo
he transformed from trannie goth to ‘Coco the clown’
by shaving his hairline back ala Trojan and began to
crop up at the opening of a champagne bottle.
Although he has since built up a ‘hated by many’
reputation (as promoters often are) he began his minor
celebrity status as door whore at The Limelight in
1987 even performing his own ‘art’ show with golden
teapot on head and Fat Gill (RIP) along for the ride.
As Acid house took to the masses Matthew found himself
oddly misplaced, so while Leigh Bowery spinned the
night away at Brixton’s Daisy Chain, Matthew returned
underground to reinvent himself as musician, although
he could also be found sporting an odd 60’s poncho &
goaty if you looked hard enough!

Returning as promoter in the Britpop nineties with
live rock music club ‘Smashing’ 1991 -1996 and a
documentry ‘A Smashing Night Out’ was released in 1994
directed by Matthew which won 6 international short
film festivals. Mathew joined Richard Torry, Matt
Fisher,Trevor and Leigh Bowery in MINTY, an art/music
project conceived as an outlet for Leigh’s latest
‘performances’ including giving birth to Nicola
Bateman and enama spraying of the audience.  Several
records were released most notably ‘Useless Man’ with
remixes by Malcolm Duffy of Trade fame and a support
slot on tour with Pulp. After Leigh’s death in late
1994, Matthew attempted to slip into Leigh’s shoes as
vocalist releasing ‘That’s nice’ with Nicola but sadly
their leader had gone, various incarnations of Minty
followed including pornstar Aiden Shaw, but it was not to be.
In 1995 Matthew rebanded as ‘The Offset’ gigging around
the country and also returned as promoter for ‘The
Mint tea rooms’. Various music projects have followed
including, ‘Harder faster louder’ and ‘The Siren
Suite’ with Richard Torry. Mathew is currently
promoting electro-clash club - Kash Point.
