Selected headlines: Ebola is a filovirus. There are four flavors of Ebola, named for early outbreak locations: Ebola-Zaire, Ebola-Sudan, Ebola-Ivory Coast, Ebola-Reston. Ebola infection causes a severe, often fatal hemorrhagic fever. Ebola is generally considered to be native to Africa and transmitted to humans through contact with animal hosts. The first known outbreaks of ebola hemhorragic fever occurred in 1976 in Zaire and the Sudan. Over 600 people were infected, and over 70% of the cases were fatal. Some Ebola links:
