Kate Mulgrew
Kate Mulgrew, Star Trek Voyager's Captain Janeway, was born on April 29, 1955 and grew up in Dubuque, Iowa. She studied acting at New York University for three years before landing the tv role of Meg Ryan in Ryan's Hope. She played Mrs Columbo in Kate Love A Mystery and costarred with James Garner in Man of the People. She has also appeared in Cheers and Murphy Brown. Her movies include: Love Spell, A Stranger is Watching, Throw Momma From the Train, and Remo Williams. Her stage credits include: Hedda Gabbler, Black Comedy, and Titus Andromius.
Kathryn Janeway, Captain of the USS Voyager (NCC74658), commands the Intrepid class Voyager with a crew of 141, bio-neural circuitary, and a holographic doctor.While trying to rescue a renegade Marquis ship in the Badlands, the Caretaker transports both ships 70k lights years from earth and the crew must join forces to survive and get home.
Janeway makes friends with the Talaxians, Ocampa, and Sikarians. She makes enemies of the Kazon and Vidiians who want federation technology and body parts. She is challenged by lifeforms, quantum singularities, and time travel and wormhole problems.
Janeway has faced difficult decisions when Nelix and Tuvok are merged in Tuvik; when she and Chokotay get a deadly virus and are force to leave Voyager in Resolution; when she falls into Ceska's trap and loses Voyager in Basics I/II; when she runs into a duplicate Voyager in Deadlock; when she grant asylum to a Q contemplating suicide in Deathwish; and when she is chosen by Q to be the mother of his child to stop a Q continuum civil war in The Q and The Grey. She starts a new lifeforms when she and Paris are turned into amphibians and mate in Threshold, she saves Kes by undergoing an alien ritual in Sacred Ground, and she saves the 29th century by going back in time to the 20th century in Future's EndI/II. She has a near-death experience in when an alien tries to trick her into his space to feed off her. In Scorpion Part I, she makes a deal with the Borg by trading a nanite weapon against Species 8472 for safe passage for Voyager through Borg space. In Scorpion Part II, she cuts the link between the local female Borg liasion and the collective and begin to help Seven of Nine rediscover her humanity and become part of the Voyager crew. In The Year From Hell I/II, she battles an alien race that uses time to erase entire species. In Hunters and in The Killing Game I/II, she battle the Hirogens who treat her crew as prey. In Vis-a-vi, her identity is stolen by an alien. In The Omega Directive, Janeway is ordered to destroy a dangerous molecule that can destroy space. In Unforgetable, she grants asylum to a female alien who claims she has ties to Chokotay.
