Bulbophyllum medusae     (Lindl.) Rchb.f.

 

Early Record

First described as Cirrhopetalum medusae by John Lindley (1842) in Biological Register. Transferred to the genus Bulbophyllum by H.G. Reichenbach (1861) in Walpers, Annales Botanices.

Distribution

Peninsular Malaysia, Thailand, Sumatra, Borneo, Philippines.

Habitat

0 – 400m altitude

Description

Pseudobulbs 2-5cm long. Leaf up to 15cm long, 1.5-2cm wide. Inflorescence 15-20cm long, flowers forming a dense clump at the tip, in a mop-like shape. Flowers slender, 7cm long, yellow with red spots.
