January 2002 |
January 2002: I've had a lot of time to think about my health while I've had Mono. I finally decided that I needed to take control. I had to drop all of my classes pretty much before the semester ended. I fell too far behind and just couldn't catch up. It was a set back, but my health was more important than passing a few classes that I can always take over again. I decided to see an herbologist and natural health practitioner. I figured that I could at least give it a shot, it was something that couldn't hurt me. I went to a woman by the name of Eve Campanelli in Beverly Hills California. My voice teacher in Oregon actually gave me her name and number because she knew how many problems I had been going through. When I went to see Dr. Campanelli she immediatly put me on a strict cleansing diet of mostly fresh fruit and veggies. She cut out things like, Processed foods like white and wheat flours, Fried foods, Most meats, all sugar, and all dairy. It was a mostly Vegan diet with whole eggs every once in a while. It was a hard adjustment to make even though I was raised in a family where my father was a vegetarian. This diet was meant to cleanse and make it so my body would process what I ate with no problem at all. She also put me on a number of different herbs. I must say that all of this worked wonders, the mononucleosis was gone in no time and I soon had energy again. The added bonus was that I dropped about 25 extra pounds. I continued the diet for many months to come, but my weight loss eventually stopped (even though I wanted to lose more). I still take my herbs and although it doesn't help my adenomyosis much, it sure helps my immune system. I don't get sick as often as I used to. You can learn more about Dr. Even Campanelli at www.evesherbs.com she also does work with people over the phone and will ship her herbs anywhere in the US. (not sure about over-seas) If you do end up calling Eve please tell her that you were referred by Jen Rasmussen. You will get a special discount or something. |
