The Episodes Continue
The plan is well executed.  Zorro teases and taunts the soldiers to follow him, but it doesn't work.  They turn back.  Zorro guesses that Capitan Monastario has figured out his plan, and he races back to the cuartel.  Shouting, "It's a trap!" Zorro warns most of the dons in time.  However, Don Alejandro is already within the walls of the cuartel, and Zorro rushes in after him.  He sends Tornado outside the cuartel walls and fights to get his father safely out too.
Alejandro is shot and seriously wounded.  Alejandro manages to get over the back wall of the cuartel, and Zorro follows soon after.  They mount Tornado and flee into the countryside.  Monastario sends his lancers after them, but Zorro eludes them.  Using a branch and Alejandro's cape cleverly perched on Tornado's saddle, the horse appears to have a rider.  He runs off, and the soldiers follow him, leaving Zorro and the injured Don Alejandro safely hidden.
Zorro fiercely defends himself against Monastario's blade after the officer has seriously wounded his father.
Zorro fights to save his father from the soldiers sent by the commandante to capture them.
By the following day, Monastario has joined the search for Alejandro.  Sergeant Garcia finds the don's bloody jacket, and when he informs Capitan Monastario that they are on the border of the de la Vega rancho, Monastario heads for the hacienda.
Zorro has hidden Don Alejandro in his secret cave, and Diego hurries upstairs into the hacienda to get medical supplies to help his father.  In Diego's room, Monastario confronts him.  The capitan orders Diego under house arrest and returns to the countryside in search of Alejandro de la Vega.  Meanwhile, the injured don leaves the safety of Zorro's cave and goes back out to confront Monastario again.
Diego uses wine to seduce the soldiers guarding him.  While drinking the liberally poured wine and singing a soldier's drinking song, Diego is unwatched.  He is able to slip from the sala, return to his room, and from there go to the secret cave as Zorro.  He is very concerned to discover that Don Alejandro is missing and goes to look for him.
Capitan Monastario orders Diego under arrest and leaves two soldiers to guard him.
Monastario is delighted when he and his lancers discover Alejandro wandering in the brush.  Monastario borrows a lancer's lance and attacks de la Vega.  Alejandro draws his sword and fights back the best he can, but his injury prevents him from being effective.  It looks as if Monastario will kill Don Alejandro when Zorro shows up and calls to him.  A furious battle ensues, and when Monastario is momentarily pinned by a lance, Zorro gets Don Alejandro on Tornado and rides off.  Monastario and the lancers are in close pursuit.
As Zorro is fleeing with Don Alejandro, they encounter a carriage flanked by soldiers.  In the carriage is Nacho Torres returning to Los Angeles after his visit with the Governor in Monterey.  He offers safety to his old friend Alejandro, and the officer in charge agrees to protect de la Vega as well.  When Monastario rides up, the officer refuses to help capture him.  Zorro boldly salutes Monastario and gallops away with the capitan in hot pursuit.  As usual, Zorro eludes capture.  Monastario returns to the de la Vega hacienda.  He overhears the soldiers singing about him.  He is angered by their lack of respect.  His resolve to defeat Zorro, dons Nacho and Alejandro, and win the respect of his soldiers hardens.
