Boston 99 with Draw The Line |
|
It all started off innocently enough, a group of Aerosmith fans on the net planning a get-together sometime in the future...the idea was milled around and fumbled with till the date was finally set and the plans were finally made for July 30-August 1st 1999...and the saga begun... I was quite nervous friday when I borded the plane to take me out'a texas and into Aerosmith territory (hey, you would have been too...). But when we finally landed in Boston all the fear was transformed into pure excitment. Just the ride from the airport to our hotel in Rockland, Mass was too much (...you can feel the Aero in the air hehe). When I arrived it was past 6 so I scarfed some pizza and headed down stairs for the opening party. The first person i met (well, met as in, with out a computerscreen) was Merry, she was taking names and handing out the passes, keychains & t-shirts. We only got to talk for a second cause it was poretty hetic. Then i met Lindsay and we talked for quite a long while. Finally the room was ready for us to enter and we all pilled in. One by one i met more poeple that i, well, already knew LOL. There's Jen, Tanya, Geoff, Andrew, Sandra, dan, winn & many more (sorry guys i didn't list personally). Draw The Line kicked in a few minutes later. They are AMAZING, pardon the pun. Neill, DTL's vocalist, looks just like Steven! The pictures on the net don't even do him justice...it's just completely unbelievable. And he mimics Steven perfectly also. The rest of the band is great too. They played a wonderful set till the hotel got too many complaints and made us turn off the "noise". Then we all hung out for a while, took a million pictures, ate cake, and chatted with the band and eachother. Later on was Aero-jeopardy time. Great game...you should try it some time hehe. No, i didn't win...was in the back...couldn't hear good...guess looking back, we didn't really "turn off the noise" like they asked lol. We had a blast at the opening bash and made it to bed in the AM. Saturday I took a trip to the mall in the morning and got some cool Boston momentos. When I got back I ran into Jen in the lobby and we went up to "the party room" (hehe yeah you guys who went know thats what it was lol) to look at her Aero-scrapbookand hang out with everyone else. After a while everyone was quite hungry and we all "walked" to a resturant to eat. Which ended up taking quite a while and by the time we got Neill & Tricia (his wife) to pick us up it was about time to get to our dinner party at Mt. Blue (for those of you that don't know, Mt. Blue is co-owned by steven & Joe). So, yeah, that party started a bit late. But it was still fun. The resturant was great. I strongly reccomend eating there; good aptmosphere & good food. after a long while there the over-21 crowd went off to Shooters to watch another DTL preformance and the rest of us went to the hotel and chilled in a room watching some great Aerosmith videos and making bead necklaces for Steven & Neill. I know everyone at Shooters had an amazing time considering it was about or after 3am when they all made the racket announcing they were home lol. Sunday was our tour of Boston. Neill led the pack to some great Aero-spots. We started at Boston's HUGE Tower Records (whose entrance is graced by an Aerosmith star), then we went by Berkley but the doors wern't open (we're still debating if they just saw us comming and locked up cause we looked like trouble or not hehe). Then we all hiked over to the Hard Rock for lunch. Boy was it crowded, but while we waited we all took turns taking our photos of the gigantic aerosmith exhibit. After lunch it was off to NewBurry St. with it's vintage shops and attitude. My personal favorite shop was a funky hat store called Toppers. We had alot of fun trying on some of their creations...and a few of us walked out with some outrageous headgear. Well after a fantastic tour it was time to say goodbye. We all parted one by one and the few of us there were left spending the night were drove back to Rockland by Neill & Tricia. It was quite late by the time the final LONG goodbye was said and we went up to our rooms to finish packing. The plane ride back was sad to say the least, but i'll always treasure the fun times and great people i met at Boston '99...here's hopeing we can all meet again at a Boston 2000!!!!!!!
