The quote above says it all. Amano is the greatest fantasy illustrator ever because his art is chaos itself. The lines, colors, and forms flow about the composition so erraticaly it's a shock to realize the image is not moving. It's equally amazing to see how such a wild composition holds together. His style almost always defies logic, but the "reality" of his pictures is never destroyed.

Amano began his career as an animation character designer, and his skill at creating memorable figures is unparalleled.
