If John Howe's Tolkien work
is like great documentary photography, then Nasmith's paintings are something
akin to film stills from a motion picture shot on location, in gorgeos
70mm. There's drama, violence, and awe everywhere in his Middle Earth.
I have no idea how large these works are in reality but they must be breathtaking.
Just sitting here imagining what these images would look like several feet
tall hanging in a gallery gives me chills.
Tolkien has been done by
many exceptional artists, but for my money Ted Nasmith is easily the greatest.
