Traphagen Families
in Europe

Germany is the ancestral home of all who bear the various forms of the Traphagen surname.  Many date back to the city of Lemgo while others derive there origin from Luthe near Hannover. It is uncertain at this time if there is any connection between the two branches.

Friedrich Traphagen is retired from the German Agricultural Ministry. He was born al Elberfeld (Wupperthal) and currently lives on the Surenbrink at Krevinghausen, commune Bissendorf. He and his wife, Eva, have two daughters. Inga is married to Volker Appel and lives at Sankt Augustin near Bonn. The younger daughter, Andrea Elizabeth, is married to Luis Febus and currently resides in Germany.

Manfred Weiss is an architect at Hannover. His mother Marie Traphagen Weiss still lives in the old Traphagen family home in Luthe that her family have lived in since the late 1600's. She is a cousin of the Henry Traphagen that settled at Perry County, Indiana.

Christoph Traphagen and his wife Charlotte live in Munich in Bavaria. He is a retired railroad engineer.

Hans-Udo Traphagen lives at Berlin. His grandfather Johan Traphagen was born at Hamburg in 1884 and died in the siege of Berlin. His father Werner August, was a soldier in the German army in World War II and was killed in 1944 somewhere in the Soviet Union.

Rolf Traphagen is an Engineer who lives at Nienburg near Hannover. His brother Gunter lived at Hamburg and died in 1996.

Ingo Trapphagen is 25 and works as a computer programmer for the Strauss Company in Velbert, Germany. His father Werner, was born at Nienberg and now lives at Velbert.

Recently I discovered a Traphagen family in Switerland.  The great-grandfather of Emmanuel Traphagen was born at Uelzen, Germany.
