DIXIE 1998

I am a semi-retired worker in the exceptional child field and also worked as an LPN and a companion to geriatric patients, most with alzheimers disease.
I also worked in a group home for teen-aged girls, a group home for newly discharged retarded adults and worked with a group called "Project Independence", which provides respite for families with exceptional children. All of these have been rewarding experiences for me.
My husband was born and raised in Connecticut. He worked for General Dynamics in CT. building Trident submarines until his early retirement.
We returned to Florida, my home state, in 1993 and have enjoyed the benefits of year round pleasant weather. (nothing to shovel here but sand.)
We enjoy playing golf, fishing and going to the beach and travel as much as we can. We are also both into playing with our computer's and have "His and Hers" so we might each pursue our own "thing" at the same time.
My husband became a member of the Moose club and is very involved with the activities that they have to offer. He is an officer,as well as the sports chairman and I am the women's sports chairperson, which keeps us even busier. I am a member of the Women of the Moose and this brings fulfillment and a full social life to both of us ( we are never home anymore lol).
He has become an avid golfer (almost a requirement in Florida *S*) and we both love playing darts three times a week, which we also run. I have gone from never having thrown a dart (and hitting the wall 2/3) to actually being a decent B player, with my highest point score being a 133 (out of 180). The friendships we have made in the Moose have also offred us many adventure's outside of the lodge, such as gambling trips, deep sea fishing and private parties. Retirement is treating us well, lol. My primary hobbies are writing poetry and playing around on the computer, mainly working on my own homepage but also working with several of the social groups I belong to on-line. I have made many friends through my new "sister's" and know that they are always here for me. I love visiting home pages and have found some very interesting and unusual things during these journeys!!
It is amazng what you can learn around here in cyber space! Since both of our sons are living on their own we now are "parents" to one small terror kitten/cat named O'cali (after our town of Ocala, and she is a calico) who is now four and Furby, a grey tabby stray now one. They are "bad" kitty's in every sense of being "normal" (see their pages)
