Sept 1804: ADAM appointed constable Sept 1805: State vs ELIZABETH SOWDER continued....

March 1806: Above case, ordered that a forfeiture taken Dec 1805 against Elizabeth & Adam be set aside; Elizabeth found "not guilty". (No clue as to the charges.)

1806-1808: Names found: ABRAHAM, ADAM, JACOB SOWDER(S), mostly Adam.

May 1808: State vs JACOB SOWDER in charge of "bastardy", child of Rachel McFarland; Jacob to pay $8/month. Nov 1807:

ABRAHAM SOWDER taxed for 100 ac land on Mulberry.

1812-1814: May 1813: DANIEL overseer of Powell Valley road from John Vanbebbers to Old Town Creek.

May 1813: Deed: JONATHAN to Thos. Vandervanter, 190 ac.

1815-1817: Names ADAM, DANIEL, JACOB, WILLIAM

1818-1819: No SOWDER

1819-1821: Names ADAM, BRITAIN, DANIEL, EMANUEL

1821-1824: Names ADAM, DANIEL, EMANUEL, JACOB

1826-1829: Names DANIEL, DAVID, EMANUEL, JACOB, PURLY

Pages 158-161 contain an inventory and sale accounting of ADAM SOWDER's property dated March 1840; Administrator was DANIEL SOWDER. On page 277 is the final accounting which included a payment to EMANUEL SOWDER of $4.50 for burial expenses.

Will of Jacob Sowder

In the Name of God ____ Amen I Jacob Sowder of Montgomery County and state of Virginia Do hereby Make my last will and testament In the manner and form Following that is to say --- -----------

1st I Desire all my just Debts to be paid
2dly after all my Debts and funeral Expences are paid I give and Bequeath to my wife Anna Sowder all my Estate Both Real personal duren her Natural Life if She Remains a widow and if She marries again after My Death My will is that she shall only have the Third part of my Estate During her natural life and then to be Divided among my Chidren hereafter Directed
3rdly I give to son Adam Sowder one dollar
4thly I give to my son Jacob Sowder one Dollar
5thly I give to my son Christian Sowder one Dollar
6thly I give to my Daughter Polly Deweese one dollar
7thly I give to my Daughter Berbary Beckett one dollar
8thly I give to my son Micheal Sowder fifty Dollars after my wife's death or marie again
9thly I give to my Daughter Betsy Bond to have ten pounds cash after my Wife's death or marriage again
10thly I give to my son Anthony Sowder one Dollar
11thly I give to my son Daniel Sowder, two hundred Dollars
12thly I give to my Daughter Sally Poff one Dollar
13thly I give to my Daughter Anna Terry one Dollar
