My name is Martha Serrano, and I was born on May 14, in 1959. Since a little girl, I already demonstrated interest in reading and writing. I wrote my first poem when I was eight years old and in that year I won the school's poem festival. Since then I did not stop reading, getting information, making courses and, principally, writing. I write poems, prose, short stories, chronicles, adult novels and novels for children and young people. I have been working with education for the last 13 years, during which I have edited 42 didactic books for the first school classes in the following disciplines: History, Geography, Portuguese, Mathematic, Arts, Infantile Literature and Sciences. I also work as a book formatter. I have knowledge in intermediate English, but I continue studying to improve it in order to become fluent. I have three children, Marianna, 21 years, Pedro Henrique, 14 years and João Victor, 13 years old. I am divorced, I live with my parents in Salvador and I am very proud of my city. I graduated in History and Scenic Arts with qualification in interpretation by the UFBA (Federal University of Bahia).

This year (2006), two books of mine about History and Geography of Bahia, which were being appreciated at MEC (Ministry of Education and Culture) since 2004, were approved with laudation for the PNLD 2007 (National Program of Didactic Books, in 2007).
