Lucinda
Nogueira Persona is paranaense from Arapongas. She spent her childhood in
Marialva, PR. She has lived in Cuiabá, MT, since 1965. She graduated
in Biology in Universidade Federal de Mato Grosso and has a Master´s
degree in Histology and Embryology from Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro.
She worked as a teacher in UFMT until she retired. Nowadays, she works as
a Histology teacher for courses like Biochemical Pharmacy, Medicine, Nursing,
Physiotherapy, Dendistry and Veterinary in Universidade de Cuiabá.
She has been writing since she was a child. She started writing poetry with
the work Por imenso gosto (For a great pleasure). (São Paulo: Massao
Ohno, 1995), with which she won a special prize from the jury "Concurso
Cecília Meireles", União Brasileira de Escritores. Other
publications came, poetry and children´s literature. With her latest
work, Sopa Escaldante (Boiling Soup). (Rio de Janeiro: 7Letras, 2001), she
won the prize Cecília Meireles 2002, União Brasileira de Escritores.
She took part in the anthology of short stories Na margem esquerda do rio:
contos de fim de século (On the left shore of the river: stories about
the end of the century). (São Paulo: Via Lettera, 2002). She collaborates
with some newspapers from Mato Grosso (A Gazeta, Diário de Cuiabá,
A Folha do Estado) by writing summaries, short stories and chronicles.
