Ecumenism, God Loves All People

The Ecumenical Window reminds us that God loves all people. God uses what each soul has from any and every source to help in the development of love.

Grace comes from the Redemption of Christ, including Grace given in any way to the world's non-Christians. Three symbols represent Christ: the Shepherd's staff on the extreme right, the IHS and crown in the adjacent panel and the Alpha and Omega on the far left. The Papal Cross and XXIII represent Pope John XXIII, the Ecumenical Pope.

Christ is born of the Chosen People of the Old Testament. The love of God for the Jewish People is seen in the Star of David. Beneath the IHS is the united Yang and Yin of Taoism. Above the IHS are the Crescent and Globe of Islam. At the top center is the OM of Hinduism. To the left again is the Wheel of Buddhism. There are two symbols for the Orthodox Christian Religions: the Orthos of the Greeks (beneath the OM), and the Russian Cross in the center of the left panel. On the right of the Russian Cross are the seagulls of Mormonism. Protestants are symbolized by the Lutheran Rose (to the left of the IHS), the Episcopalian Shield (left of the big Cross) and the ECUMENE of the World Council of Churches.
