Headquarters
in the
Lower
Ward
This
is the headquarters of the Godsmen.
The foundry is a complex of workshops, warehouses, storage yards, and furnaces
and the Godsmen work in it non stop. By day it belches smoke and steam and
by night the district is lit by its fires. Godsmen make tools, hinges, pots,
nails and anything else that can be fashionated out from iron; their skills
aren't very great but their works are all strong and serviceable and represent
their major source of jink.
The streets around the foundry are a wave of workshops and worker's taverns. They're
not luxurious or particularly clean, but for cutters working all day at the
forge it doesn't matter; there's always somebody haggling over the price of
goods in these taverns. This is the quarter where men and fiends meet.
The
Athar's headquarters once was a temple
to Aoskar. It stands in the very middle of a zone of destruction several blocks
across. Only a small part of the temple was repaired by Athar, in order to
make it useable. The area has been a ruin for a long time, but there is no
hint as to what caused it. Some graybeards say that it involved the Lady of
Pain and a conflict with a rival power, perhaps Aoskar; that could explain
the broken temple.
This quarter is considered ill-omened by most and only the Lost ignore this
superstitions. So, wagoners stop at the very edge of the ruin, sedan
chairs porters won't enter and moneylenders refuse to give out loans to
those berks who ignore the tradition; that causes lack of business but good
security for the Athar.
At the outer edges of the ruin, and forming a ring of nightlife around it,
there are many shops and inns catering to the Lost and their visitors.
