The USS SLATER Moves to Albany New York!!! She should be open for visitors in early April,1998 The USS SLATER is a destroyer escort, hull number 766. She fought on both the Atlantic and Pacific oceans during WWII. In 1952, she was given to the Royal Hellenic Navy where she served the Aetos (Eagle), steaming 260,000 miles and appearing in the movie "Guns of Navarrone".
In 1993, she was brought back to her original home port of New York City through funds raised by the Destroyer Escort Sailor's Association. Since then she has underwent a down-to-bare-metal overhaul by the Volunteers for the Restoration of the USS SLATER
