Nightmare on Elm Street 2: Freddy's Revenge
[DVD Info]

Jesse (Mark Patton) and his family have just moved into a house on Elm Street. Ever since they’ve moved in Jesse has had horrible nightmares about a man in a striped sweater and knife-like fingers who kills people. One day at school he hears a rumor about the house he lives in…the girl who used to live there went crazy after seeing her boyfriend get murdered and her mother killer herself in their living room.

While cleaning his room one day, a girl whom he gives a ride to everyday (and is romantically interested in), Lisa (Kim Myers) comes over to help him finish unpacking and they uncover a diary. The diary is dated five years ago and belongs to (none other than) Nancy Thompson (from the first movie…remember??). The diary goes on to describe nightmares she had about a man named Freddy Krueger (Robert Englund) who always chased her into a boiler room and tried to kill her. Jesse is a little unnerved at the fact that they were having similar dreams. As time goes on he has more and more dreams…but instead of trying to kill Jesse, Freddy is trying to recruit him to kill for him. Will he be able to resist Freddy’s dark powers? Or will he become the pawn of a dead psycho killer…

Birds implode when the room temperature exceeds 97 degrees.
P.E. teachers can make you do laps even when school isn't in session.
If you tell someone not to fall asleep...the chances are, they'll fall asleep.
Hot dogs explode like firecrackers when it's warm.
It doesn't matter if you've murdered a few people...love is love.

"Five years ago? That's way before my time." ~Lisa.

Why (in movies) do bus drivers always look like ex-cons? It doesn't make sense. I wouldn't hire a guy that looks like he murdered a few people to pick up school children. Yeesh.

They changed the story line a little...but I'll write more about that later...

Okay...haha...Freddy K...is totally not menacing when you having him running around terrorizing 40 or so teens. I mean...it's one guy against 40. They could take him...but they all run around like chickens with their heads cut off.

To be honest…I actually like this movie. I was expecting it to be horrible and cheesy but…it was really good! They changed the storyline a bit and that was annoying because then it means the writer couldn’t think of an inventive way to stick to the RULES. They weren’t too big of things…but it would have made the first movie not really work. First…they changed the place Freddy died in. Now…there is a logical explanation…because it WOULD makes sense that the whole parents burning his house down thing was covered up…but they made him die in a factory that he used to work in that was one giant boiler room (I don’t remember them mentioning Freddy’s place of business in the first film…so I’ll let that slide) and THAT’S where he brought the children to kill them…and then all they say is that the place shut down and hasn’t been running since he died (I guess he was their only worker). I also didn’t like how they had him running around terrorizing people…like I said before…he’s this skinny guy running around with one claw and a melted face. Not that scary when he’s up against 40 teens. Sorry F.K...maybe you should stick to dreams. The special effects were pretty cool (for 80’s standards) but the lightning was TERRIBLE…and should not be used in any 80 movie. They really overdid the pyrotechnics too…but it was cool… Another thing that was good about this movie is that Freddy hadn't started spouting lame jokes yet. A big plus...this franchise was still being taken seriously. In all it was really good movie and it was most enjoyable. Because of this, the jury gives this flick:
