Backstreet Boy told: get into rehab
Backstreet's back in trouble with booze – another Backstreet Boy is being urged to go into rehab.
Blonde singer Nick Carter was busted following a boozy brawl at the Pop City nightclub in Tampa, Fla., Jan. 1, just months after fellow band member A.J. McLean, 23, completed a program for depression and substance abuse.
Carter was charged with misdemeanor loitering when cops who had been called to the scene ordered the boozy star to leave, and he refused. Another report accused Carter of exposing himself at the bar. Now insiders say that Carter, 21, may also have to get treatment to save the band and himself.
"Everyone close to Nick is at their wit's end because the Backstreet Boys are coming to the end of their contract with Jive Records," a source confides.
"The boys still owe Jive one more CD and everyone's concerned about how they're going to make good on that commitment with a second kid out of control on booze.
"They've even talked to A.J. about helping Nick, but Nick doesn't think he has a drinking problem."
Carter's recent track record sure looks like a problem. In the past year, the multimillionaire has:
*Become so drunk in Florida's Ybor City, he violently vomited outside a nightclub;
*Run his 45-foot cabin cruiser aground in the Florida Keys National Marine Sanctuary while living it up after a concert;
*Been accused of having a kinky five-way sex romp with McLean and three groupies.
But his arrest was the last straw for band members.
Says a source: "They're talking about staging an intervention and getting him into rehab before it's too late."
