PERSONAL GLIMPSE
My husband Michael and I have two teenage sons. We are involved with our sons activities and started with them in the 4-H Program in the fall of 1989. Patrick and Michael are involved in the Rabbit Project; doing some breeding of his Mini Lop Rabbits to improve Type and keep the wonderful Temperament and Health. Stephen and I work in the Cat Project.
Stephen is a very bright young man and advanced very quickly in his knowledge of cats and ability to present himself and his cats very well to the judges in the County 4-H and State 4-H Competitions, earning many Grand Champion titles for Fitting and Showing as well as Type over the years. During our second year of 4-H Cats Stephen and I decided we wanted to be more competitive and challenge ourselves in the 4-H Cat Project so we purchased a couple of Balinese with breeding rights and then two years later an Oriental Shorthair Breeder finally felt enough confidence in us to sell us one of her Silver Tabby Orientals from her English Import line for breeding/showing. We were able to acquire Stud Service from one of her males for Leprechaun with her first litter producing, Stegra Arthur an Ebony Smoke Male. In the spring of 1994 we purchased CFA Grand Champion Quanta's Midnight Cowboy of Stegra from a breeder in Oklahoma to use as a stud for our females and show him in TICA as well. Midnight with lots of love and attention was shown to Triple Grand Champion status before retiring from showing. Midnight is the proud sire of Stegra Kaili and Stegra Isis Nyree. La Krys Savannah of Stegra came to live with us the summer of 1994. We look forward to some gorgeous babies from her perhaps this fall. We have learned a lot about cats while breeding and showing and continue to breed to improve our lines with concern for Health, Temperament and aiming for that Ideal Standard set-up by the various Cat Associations. Stephen and I have our Cattery registered with CFA, TICA, & ACFA. We show only in CFA and TICA. Michael started going to shows when we purchased Midnight. He enjoys showing, is very supportive of our showing and breeding, and this last winter Stephen and I added him as a partner in our Cattery!!
Our cats are obviously raised in a family-type atmosphere with lots of TLC. Our kittens a.k.a. "babies" are sold with a Health Guarantee/Alter Agreement. Stephen and I continue to be involved in 4-H and have shared some of the wealth of information gained by being cat purebred breeders/exhibitors with the other 4-H members and their parents in our County.
