CRM acted as the group underwriting manager for several small insurers that act as the front company by providing policy paper upon which to undertake risk. It eventually became Columbia General and was bought out by PacifiCare to become Pacificare Health and Life Insurance Company. The basis of the business was life, AD&D, and health coverages; insured, partially self-funded and fully self-funded. Business was referred by third party administrators. Supervisors were Louis Ross and J. Paul Dorris, F.S.A.. (the owners)

Associate Counsel was charged with modifying existing contracts in to a single, universal policy form system applicable to all present and potential carriers. The block would later be consolidated in to a single block of business and reinsured with an Arizona reinsurer established by CRM and subsequently in to an insurance company.

Accomplishments:

1. Development of contract amendment language to the satisfaction of the various state DOIs to modify CRMs universal forms to conform to local laws in the following states: AK, AZ, CO, CA, IL, ID, LA, MS, MO, MT, ND, OK, OH, OR, TX, UT, WY
2. The certificate/booklet system created also has been modified to parallel the policy system taking in to account assembly and manual past-up techniques, state booklet disclosure requirements, and ERISA disclosure requirements.
3. Manual Flesh Readability Test score analysis of the readability of the policies and booklets was computed by or under my supervision, revised as needed, scored certified and documented for filing with the DOI.
4. Other duties included development of an in-house documentation system for the policy pages and certificate/booklets, current and future changes in state laws. Site visits to correspondent Third Party Administrators.
5. Advise corporate officers regarding corporate name change, office relocation/ lease requirements, tort and contract suits against the company.
